Grammy Award® winner Ana María Martínez' dramatic range distinguishes her as one of today's most sophisticated lyric sopranos with a career spanning the world's opera houses, concert halls, recording studios and movie theaters.

During the 2012 - 13 season Ms. Martinez will be heard as Antonia in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffman with Opera National de Paris, Eva in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger with De Nederlandse Opera, the title role in Rusalka and Mimi in La Boheme both with Bayerische Staatsoper and Lyric Opera of Chicago.  She sings in concert with Plácido Domingo with The Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, joins a Gala concert in honor of Maestro Domingo with the New Orleans Opera, and offers a solo recital with Festival Miami.

Leading roles in Europe include Rusalka with the Glyndebourne Festival, Liu in Turandot with De Nederlandse Opera, the title role in Luisa Miller with Bayerische Staatsoper, and Violetta in La Traviata with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.  Additional leading roles have taken her to the stages of the Hamburg Opera, Vienna Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Opera National de Paris.

Highlights of her US engagements include her debut with The Metropolitan Opera as Micaëla in Carmen, Lyric Opera of Chicago as Nedda in I Pagliacci, and The Los Angeles Opera as Amelia in Simon Boccanegra opposite Plácido Domingo in the title role.   Additional leading roles have taken her to the stages of Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, Opera de Puerto Rico, San Francisco Opera, Dallas Opera, and Santa Fe Opera, among others. 

For many seasons the soprano has enjoyed collaborating on concert tours with Plácido Domingo, including their engagement at the Salzburg Festival in an all-Zarzuela concert recorded live entitled Amor, Vida de Mi Vida.   With tenor Andrea Bocelli she has appeared on the Emmy nominated PBS TV special and DVD American Dream: Andrea Bocelli’s Statue of Liberty Concert, and in his recent star-studded performance, CD and DVD entitled Concerto: One Night in Central Park.  Ms. Martinez’s concert career also includes solo engagements with some of the world’s most celebrated orchestras and conductors, including the Filharmonica della Scala, the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall, Puerto Rico Symphony, Orquestra Sinfonica Brasiliera in Rio de Janeiro, BBC Symphony, National Symphony of the Dominican Republic, the Casals Festival, Ravini Festival, and at the Esterhazy Festival in Austria.
